Cowes
June 30th 2010, Wednesday, sunny & not so cold
Another day for us not having to get up so early, because the tour to see oenguins departed at 1.30pm. We arrived in the city a bit earlier than the departure time, so took few photos at Federation Square while having a cup of coffee.
On the coach, the tour guide/driver introduced the sopts and some of the history about the spots as we travelled through on the way to the first stop- Warrook Cattle Farm. There we got to see some Australian animals closely and had our "Devonshire Tea". P and I had no clue about what on earh that would be~~
Till after we saw 2 wombats, some kangaroos, and eums, we had our first experience of "Devonshire Tea". It was scones with cream and Jam, plus a cup of tea or coffee~~
Then off we headed to Phillip Island! We visited the Koala Conservation Centre first. Most of them are up high in the trees, and sleeping actually.... Yet lucky we did get to see some "active" ones~~
After koalas, here we were- to the Penguin Parade. It was really fascinating to witness the world phonomenon of the little pengiuns return from the sea, cross the beach and make their way to their own burrows! The way the little pengiuns gather together and move in group to cross the beach was so interesting and cute!!! That was the first time for Princess J to experience it and also get to hear how they make noises~ Great!!!!
Saying goodbye to little penguins, dinner time for us. we were taken to a town called Cowes to have dinner. The main street looked a bit quiet, guess it was because most of the shops were closed by the time we arrived there and it rained a bit, which painted the street some sort of miserable feeling.....
p.s. no photos of little penguins- "Photography and filming of the penguins is not allowed", it is said. So the best way is to go and experience it yourself!!! :)
